PR-PICA REVIEW MEETING

Ivoire Coton took part, from April 12 to 14, 2023 in Grand Bassam, in the 15th review meeting of the Regional Program for Integrated Cotton Production in Africa (PR-PICA),an African sub-regional association gathering eight (08) cotton-producing countries in West and Central Africa, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Senegal, Chad and Togo.

The objectives of this meeting were:

• To take stock of the progress of the 2022/2023 cotton campaign in the program member countries;
• To present the results of the research-extension work carried out during the 2022/2023 campaign, and the prospects for the integrated management of cotton production (pest control, soil fertility as well as the issue of new varieties adapted to climatic variations);
• To share information on the situation of cotton production in the sub-region and explore solutions to improve field yields and hence producers' income;
• To facilitate the holding of B2B meetings between researchers, cotton companies, cotton growers, technical and financial partners, and agro-pharmaceutical firms.
